Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running

Problem:

Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.

Solution:

1. Start services.msc
2. Stop "Windows Update" service
3. Navigate to C:\Windows and delete "SoftwareDistribution" folder
4. Start "Windows Update" service, folder now will be recreated
5. Click "Check for updates"
