Import Outlook Auto-Complete list from another computer

What:

Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010/2013

Problem:

One of the most important functionality for Outlook users is autocomplete. After moving user to a new computer you want to preserve that list to avoid complains.

Solution:

Auto-Complete files locations:

Outlook 2007

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\<profile_name>.nk2

Outlook 2010/2013

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\RoamCache\Stream_Autocomplete_<random>.dat

Microsoft Outlook 2007 is the last one which is actually using NK2 files.
In Outlook 2010/2013, the Auto-Complete List file (.nk2) is discontinued. The Auto-Complete List entries are now saved in your Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox or in the Outlook Data File (.pst) for your account.

To import .nk2 files into Outlook 2010/2013, follow these steps:

1. Copy the .nk2 file to the following folder:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook
The .nk2 file must have the same name as your current Outlook profile. By default, the profile name is "Outlook"
2. Click Start, and then click Run
3. In the run box, type
outlook.exe /importnk2
4. Click OK

NK2Edit - free for personal use
