Can’t connect to VPN on Virgin Media

What:

Windows, Linux, Mac with Virgin Media router

Problem:

Computer can't establish any VPN connection when using Virgin Media broadband and router.

Solution:

Virgin Media has pushed firmware upgrade to routers which overwrites settings and disables PPTP traffic, follow below steps to pass that traffic through.

1. Start your web browser and navigate to: 192.168.0.1 (default address)
2. Login to the router (defaults - username: admin password: changeme)
3. Click on ‘Advanced Settings’
4. Under ‘Security’ click on ‘Firewall’
5. Enable PPTP pass-though
6. Click ‘Apply’
